General Motors Management and Labor Union negotiations

The negotiation table between the management of General Motors and the United Auto Workers union is open as the previous contracts expired last Friday.

The members of the union were informed that there may be a possibility of strike if the negotiations do not progress.

Excerpt of the news:

General Motors and the United Auto Workers union yesterday continued negotiations for a new labor contract that will shape the future of the union and the auto industry.

The talks were extended hour by hour after the previous contracts expired at midnight Friday. Analysts say that probably means the negotiations are progressing but that the UAW is keeping its options open.

Dave Green, left, president of United Auto Worker Local 1714, tells some of union members what he knows about the possibility of a strike, at the local hall in Lordstown, Ohio, early Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007. Negotiations between the United Auto Workers and General Motors Corp. continued past a midnight deadline on an hour-by-hour basis, a local union leader said early Saturday as GM workers nationwide prepared for a possible strike.
